  • Day 1

    Boston

Welcome to the tea party and welcome onto your New England motorcycle tour!

Early Birds: Like many large American cities, the downtown area is relatively small, so if you fancy a day to see the sights we encourage you to do so. From Faneuil Hall to the far side of Boston Common is about 1.5 miles and many of the must-do sights fall within that area. There’s plenty to see and enjoy.

    Day 2

    Boston – Freeport

    (215 miles)

After picking up your rental motorcycle it is a short interstate ride out of town to Salem, your first stop. Salem is famous for the witches trial in the 17th century. Then you follow Highway 1 north until heading inland to Laconia. Famous for its annual bike rally, the lake scenery his is quite something and the roads are perfect for motorcycling. Follow the lakeshore and then head east to the coast and your first night’s accommodation, a nice rural location close to a river.

    Day 3

Freeport – Bar Harbor (165 miles)

The rules are fairly simple today. Follow Highway 1 up the coast until you see the signs for Acadia national Park. Take your time, there are some amazing coastal views and scenic fishing villages all the way.

    Day 4

    Bar harbor

    (free day)

A day to relax and explore this beautiful national park, America’s most easterly. There are biking and hiking trails, great scenery and viewpoints, and Bar Harbor is a great place to just stroll around

    Day 5

    Bar harbor – Moosehead lake

    (190 miles)

There’s a change today as you head north, following the Penobscot River. The terrain gets wilder, the population sparser and you know you are in the wilds. Moosehead Lake is a little breath of civilisation, and our accommodation is right on the lake!

    Day 6

    Moosehead Lake – North Conway

    (195 miles)

A lovely cross-country ride brings you to Highway 2, which takes you on a switchback ride into the White Mountains. The scenery never fails to impress, and your overnight stop North Conway is famous for its railway and a great place to while away a few hours.

    Day 7

    North Conway – Stowe

    (170 miles)

Today on your New England motorcycle tour you take the long way to Stowe! You’ll go right up to the Canadian border. There are some interesting historical places along the way, and the ski resort of Stowe has lots to offer.

    Day 8

    Stowe – Amherst

    (210 miles)

Today is all about one road, Vermont’s Route 100. One of America’s great rides, you’ll love every minute of it – what more can I say! The day ends in the university town of Amherst, and you can feel civilisation is well and truly back

    Day 9

    Amherst – Martha’s Vineyard

    (150 miles)

Today’s ride is where the early European settlers farmed the land, and the towns’ names will be very familiar to any Englishman. We recommend you stop at Sturbridge agricultural museum on the way for a look into the past. There’s a choice of ferry to Martha’s Vineyard depending on your preferred route.

    Day 10

    Martha’s Vineyard

    (free day)

Think Jersey and you might get an idea of what Martha’s Vineyard is all about – a getaway for the rich and famous, a pretty island with plenty of history, and a warm welcome. Enjoy the day

    Day 11

    Martha’s Vineyard – Cape Cod

    (100 miles)

Take the ferry back to the mainland and then the scenic, ‘southern’ route around the rugged Atlantic coast of Cape Cod. Provincetown, your stop for the night, prides itself on its creative residents and visitors and by Pilgrim standards is a bit of a party town.

    Day 12

Cape Cod – Boston (130 miles)

Take the bayside road back for a contrasting ride. Stop at the Plimoth Plantation of course, and then head back to Boston, return your motorcycle, and celebrate the end of a great ride.

    Day 13

    Depart Boston

Today is the day to pack your bags, filled with the experiences and memories of a fantastic New England motorcycle tour. It’s time to head home. Have a safe journey and we hope to see you back for another great tour soon.
