Itinerary
Day 1
Chiang Mai
You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. If time permits, relax by the pool or have a stroll through town before this evenings welcome dinner and visit to the Night Bazaar.
Day 2
Chiang Mai – Chiang Khong
Collect your motorcycle and head north, on the way, pay a visit to Pha Soet hot springs where you can actually cook eggs, before visiting Wat Rong Kuhn, better known as the White Temple. Then enjoy the serene beauty as you ride through the Golden Triangle, most famous for its former opium production. Follow the Mekong river for 50 km downstream to Chiang Khong, the border town for Laos.
Day 3
Chiang Khong – Luang Namtha (Laos)
Once completed the border formalities cross the Mekong river into Laos. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the beauty of the Laos countryside, on a newly built road, passing by villages and spectacular mountain scenery before arriving in Luang Namtha, a small town near the Chinese border. From a temple located on a hill you can enjoy a fantastic view just before sunset.


Day 4
Luang Namtha – Nong Khiaw
Today follow a small paved road for the next 230km through countless villages, and across the mountains of northern Laos to your overnight stop at a small resort on the shores of the north Nam Ou River. Watch the sunset and enjoy your beautiful surroundings.
Day 5
Nong Khiaw – Luang Prabang
The ride today takes you through amazing valleys towards Luang Prabang. Arrive early afternoon with plenty of time for you to explore your surroundings or just relax. After dinner explore the night market offering a large selection of handicraft goods.
Day 6
Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang offers a wealth of exploring opportunities, why not take a stroll around the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site or visit the Wat Phousi temple complex? There is also the option of a half day tour to a beautiful waterfall. If none of these are for you, you can also just relax in a local café and watch the world go by.


Day 7
Luang Prabang – Vang Vieng
Heading south from Luang Prabang, cross the river Nam Khan by boat to visit a cascading waterfall. Then continue to ride some very windy roads to Vang Vieng, where you will be rewarded with a spectacular view over the mountain peaks.
Day 8
Vang Vieng – Xayaboury
Ride along fantastic landscapes, crossing the highest pass on this tour over 1800 meters. After an exhilarating morning on the mountain enjoy a relaxing lunch before continuing to Xayaboury. Watch the local villagers along the river bank as the grow their fruit and vegetables and pan for gold.
Day 9
Xayaboury – Pua (Thailand)
Travel over narrow, winding mountain roads, with a very exotic jungle landscape as you say goodbye to Laos and cross the border back into Thailand. Continue onto tonight’s stop in the town of Pua.


Day 10
Pau – Phayao
Today is a ride day of the finest, travel a very well-developed winding road (top 10 of the most beautiful motorbike roads in the world) through a fantastic mountain landscape with little traffic before reaching the city of Phayao, located on a lake. With such fresh fish in abundance it would be rude not to try some.
Day 11
Phayao – Chiang Mai
On today’s route there is a beautiful waterfall where you can stop before continuing to Chiang Mai on winding roads. You will reach Chiang Main in the early afternoon, providing time to relax and unwind before this evenings farewell dinner.
Day 12
Chiang Mai
It’s time to say goodbye with your transfer back to the airport.

Before he started work in Asia, Karl-Heinz travelled all over Europe and North Africa by motorcycle. Some years ago he took his first motorbike tour around south-east Asia. He fell in love with the countryside and the nature in this part of the world and decided to share his wonderful adventure with other people. He married in 2015 and is now happily settled in northern Thailand.
