  • Day 1

    Arrive Vancouver

Welcome to British Columbia! On arrival at the airport, take the hotel shuttle to our tour hotel. Our experienced local guides Dan and Sheldon will be waiting to greet you at our Welcome Desk from 4 til 6 pm, and we’ll all meet up for our Welcome Dinner at 6.30 pm, where you’ll get to meet your fellow Discoverers and learn more about the exciting adventure ahead.

    Day 2

    Vancouver – Princeton

    (285 km)

Today the adventure begins! We will pick up our bikes and then ride east out of the city. As we clear the suburbs, we’ll cross the Fraser River (the longest river in British Columbia) and take a more relaxed route to Hope and the tunnels made famous by Sylvester Stallone in the film First Blood. After that we pick up Highway 3, Canada’s breathtaking scenic highway close to the 49th parallel, ending the day in the small mining town of Princeton (not the American Ivy League university!).

    Day 3

    Princeton – Cache Creek

    (340 km)

We settle into our stride today. If timings allow it, we’ll head to Merritt, country music capital of Canada, where we’ll check out the themed murals around town and the historic Coldwater Hotel. We then head for and pick up the TransCanada Highway to Hell’s Gate. Then it’s on to our overnight stop in Cache Creek.

    Day 4

    Cache Creek – Whistler

    (215 km)

After breakfast we head north and pick up Highway 99. Passing the ecologically unique Pavilion Lake we arrive in Lillooet, a neat little town on the Fraser River. Let’s see if the World’s largest chainsaw is still on display! Then we take the Duffy Lake Road, well-known to local motorcycle enthusiasts as a hidden gem in Northern BC. It’s a ride you won’t forget, majestic and scenic with switchback turns and single lane bridges. Everything a biker could ask for. The road tops out at Cayoosh Pass, at 1.291m (4,235ft) above sea level. Duffy Lake and Whistler Resort are a must, to see and experience. Quite spectacular. A special day!

    Day 5

    Whistler – Powell River

    (225 km)

Enjoy two more beautiful highways today. First, The Sea to the Sky Highway is incredible, with its sweeping curves and lush green forest bordering the ditches until you get spectacular views of the glistening Pacific as you cruise above and stare down below at our first glance of the ocean. After a short ferry ride, we find ourselves on the Sunshine Coast Highway, more twisties and winding curves through small oceanside villages, with adverts for their delicious fresh seafood. The lunch stop choices are the toughest decision that you will make today, so sit back and take in the fabulous Pacific Ocean views along with some amazing winding roads. Another short scenic ferry and motorcycle ride will bring us to Powell River.

    Day 6

    Powell River – Campbell River

    (275 km)

Another great day in store. Relax on our early morning ferry ride to Vancouver Island, with a good possibility of spotting humpback whales and seals while crossing over. Then we will pick up the Oceanside Highway to Campbell River, with more opportunities to keep an eye open for marine wildlife, whilst of course keeping an eye on the road! We hate to use the phrase ‘Hidden Gem’ too many times, but today’s ride is just that. All part of the service! This is a day where you look over at the other bikers, switch your engines off and just grin. A dockside fish and chip dinner is the perfect way to top off this remarkable memory.

    Day 7

    Campbell River – Ucluelet

    (245 km)

Another exciting day on the bikes as we cross the rugged paradise of Vancouver Island from east to west. It is evident we are in Rain Forest Country: The tall cedars line the road and the scents are incredible. Pacific Rim Highway 4 winds across the spine of the Vancouver Island Mountains to Port Alberni and the open ocean at Ucluelet and Tofino. Another incredible biking road. Before today’s journey’s end we’ll stop at the Wild Pacific Lighthouse Trail, offering a 2 mile walk for those of us wanting to stroll through this beautiful landscape. So many things to see and do.

    Day 8

    Ucluelet

    (free day)

Looking forward to exploring on our day off the bikes. Ucluelet has much to offer, with its rugged coastline, temperate rainforest, and secluded beaches. Maybe some whale watching or hike to a hot spring back in the rainforest, whatever you do it should be spectacular. Enjoy a short ride along the coast to Tofino or walk the Lighthouse Loop, a 2.6 km easy trail, part of the Wild Pacific Trail. It starts at Brown’s Beach, features frequent beaches at scenic points and leads to the Amphitrite Lighthouse, offering stunning views of the coastline, Barkley Sound, and the lighthouse itself.

    Day 9

    Ucluelet – Chemainus

    (218 km)

We leave Ucluelet heading back on beautiful Hwy 4. We are sad to be leaving such a gorgeous area but, onto the next area of Vancouver Island and a must-stop at Cathedral Grove. Here we find a huge stand of 800-year old giant Douglas firs and western hemlocks along with red cedars and get the chance to see what the island looked like before the arrival of the western settlers from Europe. We find ourselves settling in for the night in the oceanside community of Chemanius. This thriving artistic community is known for its 53 outdoor murals. Once a logging town it now boasts this gallery of murals and many specialty shops worth visiting.

    Day 10

    Chemainus – Victoria

    (216 km)

Another day with spectacular views of Vancouver Island. The Pacific Marine Road and the Westcoast Trail are a couple of unknown beauties, with little traffic and costal views that takes you past some of the most majestic old-growth forest on Vancouver Island. A thrilling ride – winding roads and steep hills that will put a smile on your face! Our neat little lunch stop adds to another awesome ride. To end the day, we visit Barnes Harley-Davidson and take a walk in downtown Victoria.

    Day 11

    Victoria

    (free day)

Discover the Island’s capital by motorcycle, by foot or by public transport. There’s plenty to see and do in this picturesque historic Victorian port city. Maybe the Bug Zoo, Beacon Hill Park, Parliament Buildings, a walk along the David Foster Harbour Pathway, sea fishing, a Ghostly walking tour or a seaplane flight. And if you like two wheels and no engine as well, Victoria is big on cycling!

    Day 12

    Victoria – Vancouver

    (160 km)

Our final day on the road! Today we take the ferry back to the mainland, but not before visiting Butchart Gardens and the British Columbia Aviation Museum. (Including the infamous Starfighter, an SE5 from WW1 – Biggles anyone – and an unusual, and flying, Lancaster). On embarking the ferry we’ll visit the US border at Point Roberts, and then it’s a short ride into Vancouver. We’ll visit the famous Stanley Park before returning our motorcycles. You may have become quite attached to your bike, so be prepared to say goodbye to your trusty travelling companion, and take the opportunity for a final photo together! Our ride of discovery is nearly over. Tonight, we’ll spend a final evening together, sharing memories and experiences from an adventure filled, fun packed two wheeled weeks.

    Day 13

    Depart Vancouver

Depending on your flight time, there’s probably time to spend exploring the city and all it has to offer. Then head back to the airport for your overnight flight home,
