Ride southwest into the mountains, where twisting roads and growing elevation set the tone for adventure. A refreshing stop at a riverside elephant camp offers a chance to relax before diving back into the ride. Pause to soak in sweeping views from the highlands. The afternoon brings a thrilling descent through dense forest, complete with river crossings and engaging off-road trails, before arriving in Mae Chaem.

    Day 4

Today is all about true off-road adventure as you cover more than 100 kilometers of dirt tracks and rugged trails, deep in the mountains on challenging and rewarding terrain. The route delivers constant off-road excitement, guiding you toward the laid-back mountain town of Pai. In the afternoon, unwind and explore the town before soaking tired muscles in Pai’s natural hot springs. The evening is relaxed and unhurried, enjoy being surrounded by cool mountain air and stunning scenery.

    Day 5

Based in Pai, today’s riding showcases the raw beauty of northern Thailand, with an exciting mix of dirt tracks, forest trails, and rocky paths. The route winds through Huai Nam Dang National Park, where remote landscapes make for engaging, technical riding. Visit Southeast Asia’s largest cave and explore its vast chambers filled with impressive stalactites and stalagmites. Between rides, there are stops at waterfalls, dramatic gorges, and panoramic viewpoints – it’s an unforgettable day in the saddle.

    Day 6

This is a fascinating glimpse into the region’s cultural heritage. Continue the off-road loop, weaving through forest tracks and challenging terrain. By late afternoon, you return to base camp for a peaceful evening at the resort, where cold drinks, good food, and relaxed conversation cap off an unforgettable day of adventure.

    Day 8

Mae Malai – Chiang Rai (150 km, offroad/tarmac mix)

Start with a long, beautiful ride through dense forest trails, splashing through river crossings as the route winds deeper into Thailand’s lush countryside. Stop for a relaxed lunch near the hot springs, a perfect place to rest and recharge before the journey continues. The afternoon brings a change of pace as smooth, paved roads lead you into Chiang Rai, offering sweeping views and effortless riding. As evening falls, you head into the city centre to explore the vibrant night bazaar, where colourful stalls, street food aromas, and local crafts provide a truly authentic taste of northern Thai culture.

    Day 9

Chiang Rai – Mae Sai (120 km, road & riverside)

Today’s ride takes you to the legendary Golden Triangle, a region steeped in intrigue and history as the former heart of the opium trade, where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge. After arriving on the banks of the Mekong River, you swap a motorcycle for a fast long-tail boat. Skim along the water with one of our trusted local operators and you’ll catch glimpses of life on both the Thai and Lao shores. There’s time to soak in the atmosphere and nearby Laos markets before returning to the bikes for the final stretch. By late afternoon, you roll into Mae Sai, Thailand’s northernmost town, and settle into a comfortable city hotel.

    Day 10

Mae Sai – Thaton  (130 km, road)

Begin your day with a unique cultural experience as you cross into Burma for a morning visit to Tachilek’s lively border market, buzzing with colour, trade, and local life. Back on the bikes, the route unfolds along smooth tarmac and winding mountain roads, climbing toward Doi Mae Salong, a hilltop village shaped by Chinese Kuomintang settlers and surrounded by rolling tea plantations. After exploring the tea shops and local markets, the ride continues this afternoon – ride along scenic backroads toward Thaton, with sweeping views and flowing corners. As the sun sets, you arrive at a peaceful riverside resort, where the gentle sound of the water provides the perfect backdrop for a well-earned night of rest.

    Day 11

Thaton –  Mae Malai (160 km, road)

Your final day of riding delivers some of the tour’s most spectacular mountain and paved roads through breathtaking highland scenery. Along the way, stop to relax at natural hot springs, visit cascading waterfalls, and explore the beautifully maintained Royal Project gardens in Doi Ang Khang. In the afternoon return to base camp, where the journey comes full circle. As night falls, you celebrate the final evening with authentic Thai food, shared stories, and a campfire under the stars—an unforgettable finale to an epic enduro adventure.

  • Walter Fenske, was born in Germany in 1957. He trained as a mechanic and ran his own garage, and first came to Thailand in 1988 for a holiday. Walter fell in love with the place and became a resident in 1989. In the same year he founded a motorcycle garage in Chiang Mai together with his friend “Joe” Sauerborn, which also offered motorcycle rentals.
In 1994 Walter founded the oldest legally registered motorcycle tour company in Northern Thailand, and in 1995 H-C Travel teamed up with Walter to offer British riders the opportunity to discover the off-road delights of Northern Thailand.
Walter married Joang in 2001 and, in between looking after their pot–bellied pigs, she manages the business day to day. They are both committed to making your time in Thailand fun, safe, exciting and thoroughly enjoyable. We know you won’t be disappointed!
