Peak Performance Self Guided Motorcycle Tour

Our 11-day Peak Performance motorbike tour is a great way to enjoy Western Canada. Start your tour in Vancouver, a delightful city nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the coastal mountain ranges. Leaving the coast behind, you follow a northern route across the mountains to the semi-desert interior. Discover Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks, then enjoy some superb mountain riding when exploring the best of the best in the spectacular Rocky Mountains. Yoho, Banff and Jasper National Parks await. Then it’s southern British Columbia, characterized by hot springs, heritage towns and best of all, quiet mountain roads. On your way back to the Pacific Coast cross the Cascade Mountains and return to Vancouver.

  • Day 1: Arrive Vancouver

We will transfer you by private taxi to our tour hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to explore the city highlights.

  • Day 2: Vancouver – Cache Creek (350km)

After breakfast you collect your motorcycle and the adventure starts. Head for the Capilano Suspension Bridge on the North Shore. Then ride the famous ‘Sea to Sky’ highway to the alpine resort of Whistler. The quiet Duffey Lake Road then leads across the scenic Coastal Mountains in to the warm, dry high sierra. Lillooet is a small native community set on the banks of the Fraser River and an interesting place to stop before reaching your overnight stay in Cache Creek.

  • Day 3: Cache Creek – Revelstoke (300-440km).

The Trans-Canada Highway gives you two riding options into the BC interior, east along the South Thompson Valley or south to the scenic ‘cowboy country’ of the Nicola Valley and the vineyards of the Okanagan. Both routes take you to Kamloops, a large regional centre with an interesting native museum. We love the quieter highways that take you away from the traffic along quieter valleys and lakes. Then ride along Shushwap Lake into the rugged Monashee Mountains, where the friendly town of Revelstoke awaits.

  • Day 4: Revelstoke (50km).

Free day. Start with a scenic 26-km hairpin ride to the top of Mt Revelstoke National Park, and explore the glaciers, mountain roads and cedar forests of Glacier National Park. You can also go canoeing, white water rafting, hiking or flightseeing.

  • Day 5: Revelstoke – Banff (250km)

Ride through the avalanche sheds to the steep mountains of Rogers Pass before taking the winding road through Kicking Horse Pass deep into the Canadian Rockies. See the historic town of Golden, The Spiral Tunnels, Yoho National Park, Emerald Lake, Lake Louise and the Plain of the Six Glaciers before riding the quiet Bow Valley Parkway into Banff.

  • Day 6: Banff (100km – 400km).

This morning there is the opportunity to ride up to the Columbia Icefield on the magnificent Icefields Parkway, one of the greatest rides in the world, For an easier day you can choose to explore Lake Minnewanka, the Hoodoos and Bow Falls. Take the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain and soak in the hot springs. Go horse riding, canoeing, hiking or mountain biking and perhaps finish off with a tasty meal at Wild Bill's.

  • Day 7: Banff to Fernie (400km).

Head south into beautiful Kananaskis Country today, with great views of the Rocky Mountains all around. Follow the historic Crowsnest Pass west into British Columbia and visit the mining town of Sparwood and ‘the world’s biggest truck – almost’. The truck is a 350 tonne, 3300 horse powered monster of the mining industry and well worth a photo – if you can fit it in the frame. Fernie is encircled by magnificent peaks and has a quaint high street dating from the early 1900s. Your overnight stop is in the mountain town of Fernie.

  • Day 8: Fernie – Rossland (400km).

Visit the historic heritage town of Fort Steele before riding the curves along Kootenay Lake to Kootenay Bay for a 45-minute ferry ride across the lake. Next is the pretty lakeside town of Nelson, popular with artists and with a rich gold-mining history. After following the Kootenay and Columbia River Valleys to their meeting point at Castlegar you climb up to Rossland, the highest town in Canada. Prestige Inn Mountain Resort.

  • Day 9: Rossland – Osoyoos (225km).

Follow an old trade route, the Dewdney Trail today, a lovely ride through the mountains, taking in Gladstone Provincial Park and Christina along the way. A steep descent down Anarchist Mountain (no we don’t make up these names!) brings you to Osoyoos, the warmest spot in Canada. Explore Canada’s wine country this afternoon, maybe prebook a winery tour.

  • Day 10: Osoyoos – Vancouver (400km).

Make an early start on your last day on the road. From Osoyoos the road winds along the Similkameen River into the forests of the Cascade Mountains. This area is known for winemaking growing high quality fruit and vegetables, and horse breeding. The small mining town of Princeton offers a glimpse into the history of Southern BC with no less than 6 ghost towns in the area. In the afternoon, travel through the Cascade Provincial Park to Hope, where Stallone's hit First Blood was filmed. See the historic Othello Tunnels here then visit the heritage centre at Fort Langley, before riding down the Fraser Valley to Vancouver to return your bike.

  • Day 11: Depart Vancouver.

Today is yours to spend in Vancouver. We give you a free trolley pass to help you experience Vancouver. Visit Stanley Park, Chinatown, historic Gastown and Robson St for some last minute shopping before your flight home.
